Bengaluru Man with 3 Wives, 9 Children Caught Training Minor Son for Daytime Burglaries

A 35-year-old man, Babajan, was arrested by Electronics City police for orchestrating a series of daytime thefts in Bengaluru, with his 16-year-old son acting as his accomplice.

With no steady income and three wives living separately in Srirangapatna, Anekal, and Chikkaballapura, Babajan allegedly turned to burglary to manage his scattered household. Police say he believed using a minor would reduce legal consequences, and began training his son to assist in the crimes. Their most recent theft happened on May 7 in Bettadasanapura.

A woman had briefly stepped away to her terrace, leaving her ground-floor door unlocked. The teenager entered and stole valuables worth ₹4.6 lakh, including gold, silver, and cash. Babajan, reportedly involved in such crimes for the past eight years, typically targeted homes where residents were distracted or doors left ajar. He would wait outside, drop his son near the target, and signal when to move in. Their run ended on May 13 when CCTV footage helped police trace Babajan to Mylasandra. He confessed to the crimes during interrogation. Authorities recovered 188 grams of gold, 550 grams of silver, and a two-wheeler linked to at least nine thefts.
