Double Tragedy in Kothanur: Techie Ends Life, Wife Jumps From 17th Floor After Finding Body

The tech corridors of Bengaluru are often associated with ambition and success, but a recent tragedy in Kothanur has laid bare a heartbreaking reality behind the glass facades. A quiet residential block became the scene of a double tragedy when a young tech couple, Bhanuchandra Reddy and Shazia, lost their lives within hours of each other, leaving the community in a state of shock.

Bhanuchandra Reddy, a software professional originally from Telangana, was found dead in his apartment. Preliminary investigations suggest that Reddy had been battling chronic health issues for some time, which had kept him confined to his home. While his wife, 31-year-old Shazia, was out, Reddy reportedly took his own life. The discovery of his body later that night proved to be an unbearable blow for Shazia. Overwhelmed by the trauma of finding her husband, she jumped from the 17th floor of their building shortly after.

The couple had a long history together, having been married for nearly nine years following a period of living together. Despite their professional stability and financial security, investigators have noted that their relationship was recently marred by frequent disagreements. A note recovered from the scene, purportedly written by Reddy, detailed his physical health struggles and explicitly stated that no one should be held accountable for his actions.

This incident is not an isolated case of domestic distress in the city’s tech hub. Recently, a similar tragedy unfolded in JP Nagar involving another senior software engineer and his wife. Following a heated argument, the husband allegedly attacked his wife before ending his own life. Their young daughter had fortunately been left with relatives just hours before the violence occurred.

These back-to-back incidents have ignited a necessary, albeit painful, conversation about the mental health and emotional pressures mounting within urban households. While these professionals often appear to have “made it” by societal standards, the underlying strain of health issues, isolation, and relationship conflicts can lead to devastating conclusions. Authorities have registered cases for both deaths in Kothanur as they continue to piece together the final moments of a couple whose lives were cut tragically short.
